When I was 15, resting meant watching anime while drawing fanart and eating an entire milk chocolate bar. Not so healthy!
Lately, I am feeling kind of stressed and I want to rest.
But that is not because of me having less time to eat while watching a fictional show. It is because I want to accomplish more with my time.
I work around 40 hours in a full-time job, 14-30 hours for Believe in Fake Magic saga (Windy Lightning included), exercise 3-5 times a week, cook most of my meals, and I am preparing an international wedding abroad.
Most people tell me: you need to sleep more, go outside, chill with friends, take some holidays, etc.
But that was not what I need...
I classify rest in 2 categories: Body and Mind.
Body generally equals sleep, exercise, and good diet. And I do sleep 7 hours daily, exercise, and eat better than most!
Mind is more personal: I feel waaaay better if I spend my weekend exercising, drawing comic panels + watching just 2 episodes of a TV show and/or meet people I love versus dedicating a full weekend to a TV show marathon. (proved it many times! D:)
My mind "rest" includes work! Work that has a purpose like Windy Lightning’s comic goals!!
So, how do you give your mind a break?
Chat with friends?
Have a smoothie while browsing SNS after finishing your homework?
Read a webcomic?
Training for an exercise-related challenge?
WHEN YOU FEEL ABOUT TO BURN OUT, RECOGNIZE WHERE YOU NEED REST. IS IT YOUR BODY, OR IS IT YOUR MIND THAT'S ASKING FOR YOUR ATTENTION AND LOVE?
Attention, sometimes your body will feel bad because your mind is under pressure! Or you are in a bad mood because you are physically tired. They ARE connected. Find the root and give yourself what you need :)

Sorry, for getting on your case about sleep. I fear too many artists will overwork themselves so I just bug 'em about it all the time. Good to know that your doing good and aren't driving yourself to exhaustion over something that gives others benefit. If making comics helps you then good for that too! I am happy that your eating healthy and everything's good, we need folks who remember that but aren't as lazy as me.
@Darkside the Umbreon: Thank you, and I agree! I see a lot of people feeling bad because they couldn't finish a page "sorry, I was tired". Well, sleep is a minimal health standard so you need to manage your time accordingly. Making a comic and art IS great, but if it is not sustainable, then what? I am still trying hard to balance my life according to what needs to get done that week. Sometimes I burn myself out by getting too close to the limits... but it is worth keep trying. Both for your mental/physical health, and for your own art!
